The 61st running of the Irish 2000 Guineas was held on Saturday 16th May 1981 over 1 mile of The Curragh. The winner received £65,360 and was owned by Mrs Jean-Pierre Binet, trained by M Vincent O'Brien and ridden by Pat Eddery. The winner won by a neck in 1 minute 47.7 seconds, with 3/4 length between second and third. Kings Lake was first passed the post and was initially disqualified but then reinstated. |
